“Ghost Hill”, Guelph

Being of “a certain vintage” here at IFTL, we maintain that the 1970s are the golden age of urban legends. When we heard that one such legend involved a grave stone that still marks where a bunch of partying bikers threw all the other headstones in a cemetery into the road, we had to see it for ourselves.

You know how there’s that classic line in movie trailers where the protagonists always dig too deep or go too far, that’s kind of what happened here but in the most anti-climactic way possible. The more we looked it into Ghost Hill, the more stories that came out and the less sense they made.

Another popular story claims a a father and son were involved in a fatal car accident here and now haunt this road. Beyond that are the purple light that warns drivers of pending danger, a ghost car that chases passing motorists, the ghost of a teenage boy and the face of an apparition that peers through car window.

On top of all of that is the rumoured rape and murder of 4 First Nations girls in the 40s. A graveyard was formed for the victims with a wrought iron fence that was dismantled during the second world war, and later replaced with a new fence.
